"Imagine being condemned for life by a single tragic decision that you made as a child. When I was 17, I killed my stepfather during a fistfight after repeatedly watching him abuse my mother and 9-year-old brother. Prison was a justified consequence for my actions. But I was given a life sentence, and permanent incarceration ignores a fundamental truth: people who commit crimes as children can grow, change, and deserve a chance to prove their rehabilitation.

"Over 40 years later, I'm not just fighting for my future – I'm fighting for 174 other people who, like me, were sentenced to life in prison as children. While our sentences are technically 'parole-eligible,' the reality is stark. Without reform, we will likely die in prison. That's why I founded Freedom Force Florida. Though I can't run our daily operations from inside, our mission drives everything we do: to bring hope, fairness, and justice to those who are trapped in the clutches of Florida's criminal justice system.

"At Freedom Force Florida, we believe in restorative justice and the power of rehabilitation. I deserved punishment for the crime I committed, but I also deserve a chance to prove I’ve grown and changed. Others do,too.
